Solidarity Day- Amman Itehad Rally, Lahore

Yesterday it was the first day of this New Year and it was the first day of this decade as well. At REGAL CHAOK, LAHORE the Amman Itehad (peace and unity) Rally was held at 3pm. When I reached there the rally was on its way to Punjab Assembly building. The turnout was good and there were many people with an aim to save the country. The main aim, as per me, behind this activity was to show the unity and trust in Pakistan, and in words of Asma Jahangir;
“all those factors who are against the stability of Pakistan and want to see Pakistani totally terrorized, must see that we do not afraid of them and we will get rid of them”

I have made some video clips which I am going to submit to the Laid Back Show, and it will be released here as well. Taimur Rahman, of Laal Band, (whom I call “the Rock Star of Revolution”) was there as well singing songs while walking with the rally to motivate more and more people. While addressing to the crowd he sung the poem of Habib Jalib, “SADA AA RAHI HAY”, Ma'am Asma Jahangir, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, and Mr. I. A. Rehman, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, were among the speakers.

At the same time, this rally was also taking place in 60 cities (according to one of the organizing person), this rally officially ended at 3:30 PM. To me this event took place in a right time when we ended a year with a tragic incident of Karachi and the whole 2009 was full of sad days.. here and here There are many hopes from this year as I always things have to be batter. Right now I am bit sad due to the Lakki Marwat Blast which cause 88 deaths and uncountable causalities. Therefore I don't think I can write much but I would like to end this with a verse (poet unknown):
DIL NA UMEED NAHI NAKAM HE TO HAY,
GHAM KI SHAM SAHI PER SHAM HE TO HAY.

(I MIGHT BE DEFEATED BUT I AM NOT HOPELESS, I ACCEPT, IT'S A NIGHT OF GRIEF BUT IT IS A NIGHT INDEED)
These are few pictures I clicked during the event;
