KARACHI: At least 19 people were injured as a blast occurred in Paposh Nagar area of the metropolis, ARY NEWS reported Saturday.
The bomb was planted in a car parked at Khilafat Chowk, SSP Javed Baloch told a private news channel.
The explosion took place as Muharram procession was passing through Paposh Nagar.
Two Rangers personnel and a woman are also among injured.
Rescue teams and ambulances arrived at the scene and ferried the injured to hospitals. Thirteen injured, including a woman, children and two security men were brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, MS Dr. Mashhood Zafar told reporters.
Heavy contingent of police and rangers arrived at the blast site and cordoned off the area.
Police authorities said the explosive device was planted on the road, and not in the car. The weight of the explosives was about 5kgs, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Wasim Ahmed said.
However, bomb disposable squad said blast could have been occurred due to blow up of car cylinder.
