Special package for blast victims shortly: Zardari

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that terrorism is a curse for the nation and the government is making its all-out efforts to eliminate this evil from the country. He said restoration of peace was essential for prosperity and economic development of Pakistan.

The President was talking to a delegation of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCl) led by Siraj Qassim Teli, which called on him at Bilawal House, said a statement issued by Bilawal House media cell here on Wednesday.

The delegation apprised the President about the losses suffered by the business and trade community, in the aftermath of gory incident of blast in Karachi on Youm-e-Ashur.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives as well as economic loss to thousands of retailers, whole-sellers, traders and businessmen in Karachi.

He said incidents of looting and arson have doubled the grief and he expressed full sympathies with all the victims.

President Asif Ali Zardari said the government was fully aware about the agony of victims and advised the government to utilize all available resources to help the victims.

He stated that he would personally talk to Prime Minister Gilani to announce a special package for the affectees of this unfortunate incident.

The President also appreciated setting up of a special fund by the business community for the purpose of collecting donations from businessmen and philanthropists at the national level in order to help the victims. He said it was collective duty of the entire nation to heal the wounds of victims of Karachi blast.

The members of KCCl delegation who attended the meeting included Abdul Majeed, Haji Mohammad, Zubair Ahmed Motiwala, Tahir Khalique, Haroon Farooqi, and Abdul Majid Memon.

Earlier, the president visited Liaqat National Hospital and enquired after the heath of Karachi blast victims.
