Three Pakistani Vanished by Indian Police

Three Pakistani Prisoners who completed their 8 years of Jail in India are Vanished by Indian Police while they where going to Hospital due to massive torture that was done to them by Police in Jail. They where seriously injured due to torture by Indian Police and where going to be shifted in hospital. Now Indian media has started the drama that they  actally ran away while shifting to hospital. My question is that a person whose period of Jail is completed why he will run. Their time period of Jail of 8 years was completing in few days.

Vienna New Year concert reaches 72 countries

VIENNA: The Vienna Philharmonic's acclaimed New Year concert, led by 85-year-old conductor Georges Pretre, was broadcast Friday in a record 72 countries and on the Internet for the first time, organisers said.

Nearly 50 million television viewers tuned in worldwide, including from Australia, China, India, Russia and the United States, they said, billing it as the world's largest classical music event in terms of international coverage.

Coveted tickets for the concert were snapped up worldwide a year in advance, as has become routine.

Pretre, who also led the concert in 2008, offered some new items such as the overture from the "Merry Wives of Windsor" in homage to composer Otto Nicolai, founder of the Vienna Philharmonic and born 200 years ago.

The conductor gave a wink to his native France with the overture from Jacques Offenbach's "The Rhine Fairies" and, in keeping with tradition, closed with the "Radetzky March" by Johann Strauss Senior.

He received a three-minute standing ovation from the audience and musicians in the magnificent Musikverein hall, decorated with 30,000 flowers from San Remo in Italy.

Pretre is the only Frenchman to have conducted the traditional concert which was first held in 1939 and pays homage to the waltz canon of members of Austria's Strauss composer family.

The Vienna Philharmonic announced Friday that Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Moest, 49, would take the baton for the first time for next year's concert.

The New Year concert provides a major earner from CD and DVD rights, releases of which are scheduled for January 7 and 14 respectively.

Urea up again by Rs30/50-kg sack

KARACHI (Azhar Ali Khan): Urea manufacturers have raised the draft prices of their products by Rs30 per 50-kg sack, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Fertilizer dealers say the ex-factory price of urea has been raised to Rs755 from Rs725 per bag.

The manufacturers have passed on the effect of recent gas price hike to the farmers by increasing their products’ prices, they said.

“Despite the fact they (manufacturers) are enjoying subsidy on gas the price has been raised,” said an office bearer of Kisan Board Pakistan - a farmers’ representative body - terming the hike completely unjustified.

Another farmers’ representative body has strongly condemned the price hike, saying the move would hit the agriculture yield badly.

“This recent increase in urea prices amid black-marketing of fertilizer would definitely add miseries to the farmers,” said Rao Afsar Ali Khan, President Agri Forum of Southern Punjab.

“The farmers are all-set to sow wheat, sugarcane, corn and vegetables in the days to come and the demand of fertilizer will be on rise,” he observed.

The farmers’ associations have demanded the government of checking and stemming rising fertilizer prices and safeguarding the interests of poor farmers.

Solidarity Day- Amman Itehad Rally, Lahore

Yesterday it was the first day of this New Year and it was the first day of this decade as well. At REGAL CHAOK, LAHORE the Amman Itehad (peace and unity) Rally was held at 3pm. When I reached there the rally was on its way to Punjab Assembly building. The turnout was good and there were many people with an aim to save the country. The main aim, as per me, behind this activity was to show the unity and trust in Pakistan, and in words of Asma Jahangir;
“all those factors who are against the stability of Pakistan and want to see Pakistani totally terrorized, must see that we do not afraid of them and we will get rid of them”

I have made some video clips which I am going to submit to the Laid Back Show, and it will be released here as well. Taimur Rahman, of Laal Band, (whom I call “the Rock Star of Revolution”) was there as well singing songs while walking with the rally to motivate more and more people. While addressing to the crowd he sung the poem of Habib Jalib, “SADA AA RAHI HAY”, Ma'am Asma Jahangir, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, and Mr. I. A. Rehman, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, were among the speakers.

At the same time, this rally was also taking place in 60 cities (according to one of the organizing person), this rally officially ended at 3:30 PM. To me this event took place in a right time when we ended a year with a tragic incident of Karachi and the whole 2009 was full of sad days.. here and here There are many hopes from this year as I always things have to be batter. Right now I am bit sad due to the Lakki Marwat Blast which cause 88 deaths and uncountable causalities. Therefore I don't think I can write much but I would like to end this with a verse (poet unknown):
DIL NA UMEED NAHI NAKAM HE TO HAY,
GHAM KI SHAM SAHI PER SHAM HE TO HAY.

(I MIGHT BE DEFEATED BUT I AM NOT HOPELESS, I ACCEPT, IT'S A NIGHT OF GRIEF BUT IT IS A NIGHT INDEED)
These are few pictures I clicked during the event;
